The March of Dimes

The March of Dimes is an organization that strives to improve the health of children and mothers. This organization is also known as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. The March of Dimes was the foundation for Salk's funding for development of the vaccine. Franklin D. Roosevelt played a big role in this organization as he had polio when he was in his 30's and it resulted in him never being able to participate day-to-day activities normally again.

Roosevelt's polio condition drew the media's attention and soon, The March of Dimes campaign was being advertised from all around. With help coming from fashion shows all the way to Walt Disney entertainment, it didn't take long for money to be raised. Without of The March of Dimes, neither of the polio vaccines would have been possible.
